I swear I've seen it in a couple of Magna/anime
Have you been to the one with the billion of steps in (sp?) azubisian around the corner from Ropongi? It’s real close to Tokyo tower as well. My hotel I stayed at on that time was adjacent to it. The actual shrinege wasn’t all that but the cemetery and other walkways around it were special.
According to Wikipedia, there are 2970 registered Shinto Inari shrines in Japan. Inari is the widely worshiped kami of foxes, fertility, rice, tea and sake, agriculture and industry, and earlier of swordsmiths. The foxes are kitsune. They hold items such as jewels, keys, sheafs of rice, scrolls, and fox cubs, some of which can be seen in the video. I don't know what the balls are. Perhaps they are jewels or rice balls. The foxes are seen as representatives of Inari or actually a form of Inari. Their favorite food is supposedly fried tofu. They also like sushi stuffed with fried tofu.
Shrineception…they have their own mini Shrine!
I have to love all the fox statues! ♥
Have you visited the shrine(s) at Inuyama castle?
Not to question your shrining knowledge, but are you sure that’s not just some giant Inari store ? Lol, cause wow, just wow that’s awesome.
Does Japan have any Churches or Cathedrals?
It appears that whoever carved all those foxes was nice enough to give all of them things to play with. But, seriously, I did spend some time in Google trying to find the actual meaning, but wasn't successful.
This place is so beautiful! Had the weirdest sense of deja vu until I realised this was one of the first Shrines I ever visited way back in 2012 on my first trip to Japan! Thank you for the awesome trip down memory lane and thanks for the beautiful shrine scenery ^.^
