It is not terrifying, my cat just stays quiet and doesn't moves when we clean him, he has never been afraid of it, the same happens with my boyfriend's cats he has three and he cleans them like one time per 4 months or more. Because a cat's tonge can't whip all the dirt off them, ask a vet… We go to two different vets and they both have said that to us…
yes, when my cat was that little (and sometimes when he was older) he used to hid behind the washing machine… when he finally came out he was completly covered in dust and grease >.< We HAD TO clean him, we couldn't let him clean himself with that kind of dirt, it is dangerous for his health

If the cat DID fall in a bucket of grease then yeah, clean it. But get it over with as quickly as possible. It is terrifying to the cat and also, this cat isn't being held. Cats like to be held close, so it is doubly scared. People think they know more than nature, which just shows how stupid people can be. Cats clean themselves…LET them!

I am a long time cat owner, and I am amazed at people who are being ignorant thinking that bathing a cat is evil or cruel. I had to wash my cats several times in the past when they came home dirty like covered in some kind of oil. leaving a dirty cat left uncleared can be health hazardous to the cat, and it can sometimes even be lethal.
