In Japan: We set up these dolls to protect our daughters from illness and bad fortune.
In America: We set up these dolls, because we are filming a horror movie here.
when the girls grow up what becomes of the dolls ? is it possible for dolls to be passed onto next of kin or the next young female descendants ? I have a hard time believing that such beautiful dolls like this would certainly be put into storage and never come out again just because the girl has grown up ; clearly your mother appreciates them a lot and it's nice to see that they still get brought out , but is what your mother doing unique or is it not uncommon to simply continue bringing the dolls out even after the children grow up?
Totemo Yoi Bideo!
Thank you for sharing your traditions. It is very beautiful.
after watching Fatal Frame i cant….. sorry
This just made me think of Fatal Frame
Omg i love the music box❤
Those dolls look really expensive
it's a nice festival I and my neighbour girl's celebrate just with anime dolls
Damn, their's is a lot fancier than mine. I only have one set 😛
so much work goes into these dolls.
i own a few myself. i love the meaning behind them too.
i have some Ichimatsu dolls aswell and there so fragile arnt they?
i also saw a cerimony on tv where they burned some dolls. i dident know what it was about , but i felt sorry for all those dolls and the work that went into them.
2 of my Ichimatsu dolls legs broke and i have no idea how to put them back on, there so fragile, that i just dont want to touch them now, its a shame >.<
Wow, I really like the Japanese tradition
I like cultures with Traditions. In Canada we have traditions like Christmas, Thanksgiving, Halloween, Valentines Day. But most of these are so commercialized that they have lost much of their meaning. Thanksgiving is still a great family event.
Who sets up this display? Is it something the mother does for her daughter or the whole family participates in including the girl herself? When you have a girl child do the parents go out and buy these in anticipation of Hina Matsuri"? Are the dolls ever given as gifts to new parents or to the girl child herself on "Hina Matsuri?
Portuguese subtitles submitted! Thank you!!
woooh
wow. i love video like this. so interesting.
I want a music box with that song. It sounds strangely familiar to me. Is it in any anime or movies perhaps?
Navaratri in south India has dolls on steps like hina matsuri
FORGIVE ME IF I AM WRONG: I asked someone whose Mom collects the dolls (as in she has a large portion of her sitting room covered in them, and they are very pretty but I swear I can feel them looking at me. It's like being it the presence of lots of tiny well dressed people.) why they are switched and she says someone told her the Emperor of the Taisho period started to stand on the other side instead of the traditional Japanese style when he was in his "enthronement ceremony." I have no idea what that means but she says it's now just treated as a style based on where you got your dolls.
love this channel and learning more. I hope to live in Japan one day
How is the bad luck and sickness removed from the dolls after the festival?

I have been reading the manga Love So Life, where they celebrated Hina Matsuri!! I think it's a nice way celebrate young girls from growing healthy and strong.
What a beautiful melody! I like it so much! Thank you for your video. ありがとう
does the cat not knock them over ? beautiful tradition….
If 2 stages are already that awesome, it kinda makes me wonder how 7 stages would look like! Btw, do the samurai armour models mean anything? You know, the ones with a samurai helmet and the full body plate armour with a samurai sword.
seen this festival when in japan <3 was really beautiful <3
